Rosemary Hill’s award winning MTB Trail, (“Big MTB Year” Trail Winner for 2014 and 2015), is suitable for mountain bike riders, trail runners and hikers alike, offering a great day out on the very clearly marked trails of approximately 6km, 10km and 33km.
The single-track trails are custom-made, very well maintained and include an occasional jeep track for overtaking. The trails meander through the farm, passing through the rosemary fields, the casuarina and bluegum woods, encircling some of the farm dams, and even enters some old ruins that invite exploring! (RH is a working farm so watch out for animals, tractors and other farm machinery!)
Unique in Gauteng, the 110m long “camber bridge” has brought exciting experiences to all who ride it and the new 45 degree “roundabout” has caused quite a few spills for those who dare to take it on. Many an entertaining anecdote has originated here. Stories told by the daredevils who challenged the trail at night are especially entertaining!
With continuous modifications and improvements, the trails constantly present a new, fresh challenge every few weeks – ensuring that our existing clients have as much, if not more, fun than first time visitors to the trail.
Pretoria East’s premier family friendly trail
Rosemary Hill MTB trails offer safe riding for mountain bike riders of all ages and all experience levels – from beginners to advanced riders. Tricky obstacles (bull run), always present an easier, alternative option (chicken run).
MTB rentals at Rosemary Hill Farm Trails
From out of town? Need to get out into the country and enjoy some fresh air? Mountain bikes are available to rent at R180 per person, which includes the bicycle and a helmet. We kindly ask for your car keys as deposit and it will be returned when we received our rental bike back from you (in one piece!). In addition to the R180, please purchase a day pass of R40 should you not have purchased a year pass already (which we highly recommend because you only need to cycle here once a month to justify the cost)
Due to the high popularity of the rental bikes, a pre-booking is essential. Contact us on Tel 012 802 0052 or firstname.lastname@example.org to book. Please remember to specify the time as well as the size of the rider or bike required when you make your booking so that we can arrange for a staff member to assist you, especially if it is 06h00 am which is before our staff arrive for their shift. All bikes must please be returned before 17h00 so that our staff can pack it away. Prices are subject to change without prior notice.
Our latest addition, the 1km toddler trail meanders through a rosemary field and is ideal for the tiny MTB’ers just starting out! Aspiring future champions bring their own bikes, including those with training wheels, and enjoy the day out in nature! Entrance is free for children up to six years old and all children must be accompanied by a parent. (Rentals for kids are not yet available.)
After your ride, run or hike
Delicious cappuccino, hearty home-made breakfasts & freshly baked cakes await you upon your return. A unique play area featuring our amazing living art karee-wood climbing frames, undercover sandpit with a toy box and jungle gym made from recycled plastic will keep the children busy while mom & dad enjoy a lovely meal in peace.

Here are some videos featuring different aspects of our trails.
This clip is the result of Mighty Fine’s shooters scrambling around the steep inclines of Stokeville, doing their best to capture enduro rider (and master trail builder) Heinrich Hattingh’s skills. Heinrich is featured in the clip on this exciting part of the trail that he designed and built for us.
A misty May morning in 2015 saw an awesome collaboration between Mighty Fine, Advendurance, Rosemary Hill and Lynnwood Cyclery. This clip features Fritz Pienaar, Francois Theron and Andre Terlouw having fun on our trails popping as many wheelies as possible.
Throwback to a dusty winter shoot with the guys from Bike Life who did a cool feature on the trails, while also giving a bit of background about other goings-on at Rosemary Hill. They even helped us get a batch of kakibos ready for oil extraction! This clip was part of a series that was featured on Supersport.
