High Tea

Rosemary Hill is one of the very few establishments in South Africa that offer an authentic Morning or Afternoon Tea (or High Tea) experience. Rather than providing a buffet and expecting guests to help themselves, our teatime treats are freshly prepared for your enjoyment and presented on elevated tiers with beautiful freshly picked herbs and flowers from our gardens. Each individual treat is made and served with special attention. Our fine selection of blended loose leaf teas are brought to the table in special tubes so that guests can experience the beautiful aromas before making a choice.

We specialise in tea parties – from Bridal Tea Parties, Stork Tea Parties, little girl themed Tea Parties and Christenings to more intimate tea for two or even ‘Me-time-Tea-time’ where you can bring your book, and spend the afternoon sitting under the tree, reading, eating and drinking tea …

Tea is served on the following days and times by appointment only (and subject to availability) at R135 per person

 

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (for groups of 10 or more) at 14h00 – 16h00

Saturdays (for groups of 2 to 40) at 10h00 – 12h00 or 11h00 – 13h00 only

Sundays and public holidays (for groups of 2 to 40) at 10h00-12h00, 11h00-13h00 or 13h00-15h00

 

High Tea Menu

Upon arrival, guests receive a glass of sparkling wine (or in Winter home made Gluhwein!) followed by:

Mint-lemon water, fresh fruit juice

Filter coffee, Selection of 12 Specialty Teas, Cappuccino

Salmon and cucumber sandwich bites

Biltong and Peppadew tartlets

Egg-mayo and rocket bread boats

Mini pancakes filled with chicken terrine

Crème Brulée served in espresso cups

Rosewater-glazed scones with cream and jam

Chocolate mousse in pecan baskets

Mini pavlova’s topped with seasonal fruit

Mini lemon curd cakes

Gifts for your guests:

  • Packet of Homemade cookies – R15 each
  • Tuscany Rosemary Plant wrapped in brown paper and tied with a ribbon – R20 each

High Tea is the prefect solution… We have the following private areas available for your function:

Barbet’s Burrow can seat up to 40 guests and the wooden boards along two of the sides allow you to put up your own decor like photos. The ceiling has wooden beams so you can hang more decor from there. This venue is outside. Patio heaters are used on cold days. It has a bird theme with birds painted along two of the sides.

Lourie’s Lair can seat up to 24 guests and the wooden boards along two of the sides allow you to put up your own decor like photos. The ceiling has wooden beams so you can hang more decor from there.  This venue is outside. Patio heaters are used on cold days. It has a heart theme with different types of hearts against two of the sides.

Weather permitting we can set your table up outside in the garden under the trees. In the event of rain or unpleasant wind we can easily move your table into the restaurant area inside.

Plover’s Place, can seat up to 30 guests. The ceiling has wooden beams so you can hang more decor from there. This venue is outside. Patio heaters are used on cold days. It has a farm theme and is decorated with farm implements, enamel plates and hay bales.
